Description

There are three headstones located east of the Church of St John the Baptist in Parson Drove.

The first headstone, dedicated to Thomas Woods and dated 1768, is made of limestone, likely from Ketton. It features a Rococo design with S- and C-scrolls surrounding a glory above a panel that has an inscription in Gothic, Italic, and Roman lettering, all framed by an egg and dart border. The base of this headstone is rusticated and it shares similarities with the headstones of Samuel Andrews of Wisbech.

The second headstone commemorates John Golding, who died in 1803, and his wife Elizabeth, who passed away in 1777. This Neo-classical headstone has a shaped top featuring a seated figure of Hope holding an anchor, along with an urn, a winged cherub's head, flowers, and foliage. The inscription is divided into two segments: the upper segment is dedicated to John Golding, while the lower segment honors Elizabeth.

The third headstone, dated 1804, is also made of limestone, probably from Ketton. It has a shaped head that depicts Father Time along with his symbols, a scythe and an hourglass, and includes a small oval plaque with a portrait of the deceased above a skull. Below this, there is a circular panel that is segmented vertically, adorned with flowers above and foliage in the lower spandrels.
