Description
Coppice Lodge is a detached house situated on high ground, accessed through a garden doorway on Coppice Hill. The building is two storeys tall and likely dates from the 17th century, with 18th-century additions. The left side is constructed of random rubble, while the right side features ashlar stone. It has a stone-tiled roof with end chimney stacks and one large stack in the middle. The house has three windows and two dormers, which have cambered heads and two-light wooden casements. Most windows are sashes set in reveals, except for the left-hand ground-floor window, which has been enlarged to create French windows. There are two square-headed doorways, each with flat stone hoods supported by cut brackets, and both doors are six-panelled with glazed upper panels. The building features a moulded cornice and a plain parapet. A paved terrace with ten steps leads up from the garden, flanked by plain wrought-iron railings along the terrace and the sides of the steps. Coppice Lodge is part of a group that includes Nos. 9 to 12, Nos. 14 to 16, Nos. 19 to 23, the Wesleyan Methodist Church, the former Wesleyan Methodist Church, and the wall and gates.
