Description
Cobweb Cottage and Spiders are two cottages that were originally a single house, dating from the late 17th to early 18th century. The building features diaper brickwork and has a thatched roof. The north cottage, known as Cobweb Cottage (number 212), is the earlier of the two and is set at a right angle to the road. It is a single storey with an attic, consisting of two bays and a gable entrance that has been blocked and replaced by a 20th-century porch on the side. It has a gable stack and a roof that is hipped to the rear, supported by a single purlin roof.
Attached to the south side is Spiders (number 214), which is two storeys high and has three bays. It has a central door opposite the stack that has been replaced by a window. The windows have been altered and now feature paned casements. The ground floor has brick wedge lintels with cambered soffits. There is a late 20th-century lean-to porch at one end and an extension added to the rear in 1986. The roof of this cottage is also hipped.
