Description
Cobbs Cottage and The Gate House is a house that has been divided into two dwellings. It dates from the early 17th century, with cross-wings added in the late 17th century. The building features a rendered base and large timber-framing with rendered infill, while the cross-wings have painted brick infill. The roof is covered with old plain tiles and includes a brick ridge stack to the left of center and another ridge stack on the right cross-wing. The structure has a U-shaped plan with cross-wings on either side. It is two stories high and has a five-window range. There is a 20th-century ribbed door leading to an angled porch at the corner of the left cross-wing, and a plank door with an open timber-framed porch topped with a lean-to old plain-tile roof at the end of the right cross-wing. The windows show irregular placement, mostly consisting of 20th-century leaded casements. The interior has not been inspected.
