Description

Two cottages stand in a row on High Street, Burbage. They date to the 17th century, although the timber framing has largely been replaced with rendered and roughcast brick. The roofs are thatched. The cottages are single-storied with attics. Each has two bays and a stack at the north end. Number 218 is symmetrical, featuring a central, open lean-to porch. It has 19th-century timber casement windows with cambered heads on the ground floor, and two flush dormers. Number 220 is similar, but its porch is offset, and it has leaded timber windows, along with a single flush dormer. The roof is hipped at the south end and includes an integral lean-to. A tiled, single-story link connects the cottages to a rear outbuilding belonging to Number 218, which is weatherboarded and thatched.
