Description

Cowbyres, which include a hayloft and pigsties, date from the late 18th century. They are constructed of coursed rubble with wooden lintels and stone slate roofs. The building has an L-shaped plan, featuring byres on the left, a loft in the angle, and pigsties on the right. The cowbyre range consists of five bays with square piers and stairs leading up to the hayloft, which has plank doors. This range works in conjunction with other structures behind the farmhouse to form a complete yard of farm buildings.
