Description
Wackland Farm Cottage and Paper Barn is a building dating from 1790, originally designed as model cow byres with a hay loft above. It is now partially used as a cottage and partially for storage. The structure is made of Isle of Wight coursed rubble and has a slate roof. It is one storey high with attics. The cottage features a central round-headed doorcase with a modern door and two round-headed sash windows with glazing bars. The former byres have two central round-headed entrances and two round-headed openings with fixed glazing. There is an entrance to the hayloft on the right side elevation, a similar entrance on the left side, and a blocked oculus, which was likely originally an owlhole. This building is an interesting example of a model farm building on a gentleman's farm.
