Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a detached house dating from around 1700. It is built of coursed rubble that is rendered, with dressed stone quoins and ashlar dressings around the window surrounds. The roof is hipped and covered with stone slate, featuring two ashlar stacks—one at the west end and the other on the north front. The cottage has an L-shaped plan, with a rectangular main block positioned at right angles to the road and a southeast outshut that has a corrugated asbestos roof.
The south front of the cottage is two storeys high and has two windows. The windows are designed with 2-light ovolo-moulded mullions, featuring casements; some have small panes while others have three panes. There is a continuous string course at the first floor level. The east entrance front includes an early 19th-century plank door and another 2-light mullion window. At the time of the last survey in May 1986, the house was noted to be in poor condition.
