Description
ZEALS LOWER ZEALS ST 73 SE (east side) 6/187 Stable blocks and garden wall on north side of Zeals 6.1.66 House GV II Stable and carriage house with attached walls. Probably late C18. Flemish bond brick, Welsh slate hipped roofs. Matching blocks facing across courtyard. Single-storey, 3-bay; centre breaks forward. East block has central round-arched opening, now partly blocked and with lunette, doors with round-arched heads and 6 fielded panels either side, brick impost band and pilasters, side bays have cross windows with flat arches, pediment over centre with oculus. Lean-to cart shed with segmental-headed double doors attached to right return. Rear has segmental-headed doorways and inserted pivot-hung casements. West block has similar features, but a pair of elliptical-headed double carriage doors have been inserted into right of central arched opening, right return has five blind or blocked segmental-headed windows, lean-to cart shed to left return with segmental-headed planked doors. Interiors retain cast iron and wooden loose boxes and stalls.
