Description

GWENNAP PENGREEP SW 73 NW 6/153 Stabling at about 50m north west - of Pengreep House GV II Stable block. Circa late C18. Flemish bond brick front with granite plinth, quoins, sills, string, keystones, and some lintels. Otherwise rubble. Top of walls reduced and now with corrugated iron roof and gable ends. Formerly the front was probably almost identical to other stable block q.v. at approx 20m south west of Pengreep House. Plan of 3 rooms or bays. 2 storeys but first floor reduced in height. Symmetrical 3-bay south east front. Rusticated quoins, plinth, keystones and mid floor string. Central bay is broken forward with tripartite window to ground floor with sashes to sidelights and lower part of originally Venetian window over. Pediment removed. Identical but mirror image bays; each with 2 windows and doorways towards middle bay. Keyed shallow brick arches. Divided stable type doors and windows boarded over. Sills only remain of first floor windows and 1 sill removed (left). Interior not inspected.
