Stabling At About 50M North West Of Pengreep House

The stabling located about 50 meters northwest of Pengreep House is a stable block dating from the late 18th century. It features a front made of Flemish bond brick with a granite plinth, quoins, sills, string courses, keystones, and some lintels, while the rest of the building is constructed from rubble. The tops of the walls have been reduced, and the structure now has a corrugated iron roof with gable ends. Originally, the front likely resembled another stable block located approximately 20 meters southwest of Pengreep House. The building has a plan consisting of three rooms or bays and stands two storeys tall, although the first floor has been reduced in height. The symmetrical southeast front has three bays, with rusticated quoins, a plinth, keystones, and a mid-floor string course. The central bay projects forward and features a tripartite window on the ground floor, with sash sidelights and the lower part of what was originally a Venetian window above. The pediment has been removed. The two identical mirror-image bays each contain two windows and doorways leading towards the central bay, with keyed shallow brick arches above. The stable-type doors and windows are boarded over, and only the sills of the first-floor windows remain, with one sill removed on the left side. The interior has not been inspected.
