Description

The building consists of a laundry and cottages located about 10 meters northwest of Pengreep House, dating from the mid to late 19th century for the laundry and the early 19th century for the cottages, along with adjoining courtyard walls. The laundry is constructed from elvan ashlar, which may have been reused from parts of the 18th century house that were demolished. It features a steep tiled roof from the 20th century with deep brick chimneys at the gable ends. The cottages are built from granite, elvan, and killas rubble, also topped with a 20th-century tiled roof with gable ends, adjacent to the laundry on the southwest side.

The laundry consists of one large rectangular room and includes a hipped carriage shed on the left (southwest). The cottages to the right each have a one-room plan, with the left cottage having a narrower end that connects to the laundry. The building is two stories high and built into a bank at the rear. The southeast front shows that the laundry is taller and stands out from the cottages, featuring a symmetrical three-window front with horned four-pane sashes. The left ground floor window is an early 18th-century 18-pane sash, likely reused from the demolished part of the 18th-century house, possibly serving as the original stair window. The glazing bars inside have chamfers instead of mouldings, and there are flat arches over the openings. There is a doorway on the right gable end.

The cottages have two- and three-window fronts, each with a doorway and a window on the ground floor, featuring granite lintels above the openings and 12-pane hornless sashes. The interior of the laundry remains unaltered, showcasing a stone floor, a large bread oven in one corner, and a copper in another corner. The cottages have simple interiors with beamed ceilings. The coped rubble walls connect to the main house and enclose a completely cobbled courtyard.
