Description
Laundry Cottage and The Old Laundry is a house that was converted from a laundry, now divided into two homes. It underwent remodelling around 1900, which altered a mid-18th century building, with further changes made in the mid-20th century. The structure is built of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features machine-tiled roofs with gable-end parapets and ashlar ridge end stacks. The stacks have moulded cappings, and the east end stack has two large square shafts. The building is two storeys high and consists of one plus three bays. All windows are leaded casements.
On the north elevation, the single-bay section has a three-light window on both floors, and the main entrance, located to the right, features a gabled rustic timber porch with a ledged and battened door. The three-bay section is lower in height and includes a two-light and a three-light window with cambered heads on the ground floor, a central two-light window on the first floor, and a central entrance with a flat moulded canopy on shaped brackets and a half-glazed door. There is also a single-storey wing at the rear of the single-bay section. The building is prominently located next to the Village Hall and is included for its group value.
