Description

The Old Laundry Cottage and attached range is a collection of outbuildings from the 17th and 18th centuries, constructed from rubble stone with stone tiled roofs. The building is 1½ storeys tall and has an 'L'-shaped plan. The south range features an early 17th-century cross-gabled section at the eastern end, with gables on the north, south, and east sides that are topped with coped edges and eagle finials. It has two-light recessed chamfered mullion windows on the north and south gables, with the north gable window featuring a king-mullion. There is a five-light similar mullion window at the ground floor of the east end. Adjacent to the south gable is a chimney gable.

On the north front, to the right, there is a series of leaded and casement windows with a timber lintel and reused mullions, along with a door to the right. Above, there is a straight joint and a ridge stack. The range extends westward, featuring two additional ridge stacks and various windows and doors on the north front, all with timber lintels, leading to the west end gable. The return wing includes a louvred turret on the ridge and a cross-wing at the north end. The east front has casements, while the cross-wing's east gable features an upper three-light casement and a timber-lintel oak-plank door leading to the Old Laundry Cottage. The cross-wing extends back with a chimney gable on the south side, a flush-panelled door to the Estate Office, and a three-light chamfered oak mullion window with a casement dormer above. There is a stack located at the north-west corner.
