Description
Nos 102 and 104 on High Street are a pair of houses built in the late 17th century. They are constructed from rubble stone and feature a stone-tiled roof with a stack at the south end. Each house is one and a half storeys tall and has a single window range.
Both houses have dormer gables, each with a two-light recessed ovolo-moulded mullion window. Number 102 has a ground floor plank door set in a moulded architrave, topped with a pedimental dripmould, and a long, three-light recessed ovolo-moulded window with a hoodmould. Number 104 features a door in a flush cyma-moulded surround and a two-light flush cyma-moulded window, both beneath a single hoodmould. Inside, Number 102 has a bolection-moulded fireplace on the south wall, while Number 104 includes a rear wing with a stack at the east end.
These houses are part of a notable group of buildings from the 17th to 18th centuries, with Nos 94-112 known as the Flemish weavers' houses.
