Description

Nos 92, 92A, and 90A on High Street are a pair of houses from the 17th century that have been altered. They are built of rubble stone and feature a 19th-century slate roof, with two ridge stacks and a stack at the south end. The buildings are two storeys tall with an attic.

No 92A has a double-fronted main range that includes two dormers and two three-light recessed ovolo-moulded mullion windows with hoodmoulds on each floor. The central plank door is set in a moulded stopped surround and also has a hoodmould. There is a gabled ashlar porch with reused oval lights on either side. To the right, there is a section with one window range that includes a dormer, a first-floor two-light recessed cyma-moulded mullion window with a hoodmould, and a ground floor with a brick relieving arch above 20th-century garage doors. Old photographs show a door and a projecting shop window.

No 92 features one upper three-light recessed ovolo-moulded mullion window and a ground floor six-pane window, with a door in a chamfered surround and a small-paned canted timber shop window. To the left, No 90A appears to be 18th-century infill between earlier buildings, with a boarded upper opening, a ground floor 20th-century small-paned shop window, and a door with a timber lintel. Old photographs indicate that carriage doors were previously in place of the shop window. The property is numbered out of sequence. Nos 90-112 form a notable group from the 17th to 18th century.
