Description
No. 77 High Street is a house, likely built in the late 18th century with an earlier core, and has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features rendered rubble stone with a Bridgwater tile roof, coped gables, and stacks at the south end. The east front has a moulded cornice and a blank storey above. On the first floor, there are two close-spaced 16-pane sash windows from the 20th century, with a central 20th-century door and a 16-pane sash window on each side. All the sashes have painted softwood surrounds and hoodmoulds. Old photographs indicate that there was a shop front to the right of the door and that all windows originally lacked moulding. The north gable end, made of rubble stone, has an attic 3-light recessed cyma-moulded window with a hoodmould. The rear wall is rubble stone on the left and ashlar on the right, featuring 19th-century cast-iron segment-headed windows in the attic dormer and ground floor.
