Description

This is a mid-18th century house located on the west side of Corsham High Street. It is constructed of limewashed rubble stone with a stone-tiled roof, coped gables, and end-wall stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window front. It features flush quoins and moulded stone eaves. The windows are sash windows set in raised bead-moulded surrounds, with paired windows on the exterior and a single window in the centre of the first floor. The first-floor windows have eight panes, while the ground-floor windows have two. Plain raised dripstones are above the ground-floor windows. A central six-panel door is contained within a flush moulded doorcase with a hood supported by brackets. There are two rear wings, both with end-wall stacks. The north wing has a three-light flush cyma-moulded window on its south-facing first floor. The south wing has a similar four-light window on its north side, with a 20th-century four-light window below and an original two-light window to the left, which is now internal as the rear wall has been built out in ashlar with a gable. Internally, there is a closed string staircase, fielded panelled shutters, doors, and first-floor window seats.
