Description
Townpark is a complex building that originated as a two-storey, five-bay house from the earlier to mid-18th century, which has undergone various alterations and additions. The structure features painted rubble with contrasting ashlar margins, and the original house has broad angle margins with chamfered window margins. In the 19th century, it was converted into a laundry for Closeburn Hall and later used as cottages, which include two timber porches on the west side. Currently, it forms part of a farmhouse and farm steading, situated on a steep bank to the east. The building has two doors on the first floor, one of which has a modern porch spanning the area, while the other features a forestair. The windows are mostly small-paned sashes. There is a modern wing at the north end, and the building has end and axial stacks with a slate roof.
