Description
The Laundry Cottages in the estate yard at Grimsthorpe Park are former laundry buildings that have been converted into cottages. They date from the early 19th century and were altered in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The cottages are constructed from squared limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings. They feature a slate roof with two gable and one ridge ashlar stacks. The building is two stories high with a six-bay front, where the right-hand end bays are slightly advanced. There is a first-floor cill band and six glazing bar sash windows, with the three right-hand windows being recessed and set in the blockings of former doorways, all having ashlar surrounds and lintels. On the first floor, there are six smaller glazing bar casements located at the eaves. The cottages are included in the listing for their group value only.
