Description
A group of three statues located east of Grimsthorpe Castle, dating from the mid-18th century, possibly created by Batty Langley. The statues are made of Coade stone and lead. They include a pair of urns featuring floriate knops, gadrooned covers and bases, with flowers and fruit depicted on their sides. These urns stand on square swept bases with moulded tops. Between the urns is a lead figure of a gladiator, which stands on a panelled oval Coade stone base. This group is part of the formal gardens that were designed for the Duke of Ancaster.
