Description
Grimsthorpe Lodge Cottage is a lodge cottage built in 1897. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with an ashlar side front and features a Collyweston slate roof. The building is a single storey with a garret and has a single bay ashlar front that includes angle buttresses and a castellated top. The central entrance consists of a planked door set back in a four-centred chamfered arched opening, complete with a hood mould. Above the door is a small two-light window with four-centred arched heads to the lights, recessed in a chamfered square surround. On the roadside, there is a single canted bay window with glazing bar lights and a flat lead top. This lodge was constructed when the new drive was created to commemorate Queen Victoria's Jubilee in 1897.
