Description
The stable block located at the rear (east) of Number 14 in Crediton dates from the early 19th century and is contemporary with the main building. It is constructed of painted Flemish bond brick and features a slate roof with serrated ridge tiles, although the rear pitch has been replaced with corrugated iron. The stable block is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical five-bay front with round-headed openings. To the left, there is a large archway with doors leading to the rear, while a narrower doorway next to it retains a boarded door with a roundel ventilator. To the right, there are three stable archways of equal size. Above the left-hand opening, there is a round pitching eye or ventilator, and two rectangular loft windows are positioned to the right. Inside, the stable block includes some brick paving and original fittings, along with king post and strut trusses. This building is included for its group value with Number 14.
