Description

This is an early 18th-century house, originally used as a shop. It is located on the east side of North Street in Crediton. The front elevation is roughcast, with brick visible, while the rest of the building is largely constructed of cob. The roof is covered with pantiles, and a chimney stack is located on the left end, featuring a brick shaft. The house's plan consists of a single-depth main block, two rooms wide. The front of the building has a two-window facade. To the right on the ground floor is a former shop window with a plain fascia, directly above a large fixed window with 6 panes. A contemporary boarded door is placed to the left of this. To the left on the ground floor is a fixed window with 4 panes. The first floor features two 12-pane sash windows with architraves that are probably from the late 18th century. The interior has not been inspected, but may contain original features, including an early roof structure.
