Description

ZEALS MERE ROAD ST 73 SE (south side) 6/194 Black Dog Lodges and gatepiers 6.1.66 at north end of Avenue to Zeals House GV II Pair of lodges and gate piers to Zeals House (q.v.). Late C18. Painted Flemish bond brick, pyramidal tiled roofs. Square lodges flanking gate piers to drive. Fronts facing main road each have pointed 2-light casement, rears also with pointed casements. Pointed planked doors face drive, lean-to extensions with pointed planked doors and 2-light casements to sides facing away from drive. Rusticated stone gate piers attached to lodges with moulded cappings and lead statues of Talbot dogs, curved walls with swept coping and end piers to front.
