Description

Church Cottage is a detached cottage and cartshed that has been converted into one house. It dates from the late 17th century and the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of dressed limestone and features a tiled roof with a rendered brick stack on the left and coped verges.

The cottage is two stories high and has two windows with casements. To the right of the center, there is a Tudor-arched moulded door surround with a hoodmould and a planked door fitted with strap hinges. To the left of the door, there is a three-light diamond-leaded casement in a hollow-chamfered surround with a hoodmould, and to the right, there is a two-light similar casement also in a hollow-chamfered surround with a hoodmould. On the first floor, there are two diamond-leaded casements in hollow-chamfered surrounds. A diagonal buttress is located at the right corner, and a pilaster on the left features a relief-carved date of 1450.

Attached to the left side of the cottage is a single-storey former cartshed from the 19th century, which has a 20th-century central door with a transom light, and cast-iron latticed two-light casements on both sides. The roof of the cartshed is hipped to the left. The right return of the building has a fixed leaded window on the ground floor, and there are 20th-century lean-to extensions at the rear. Inside, the cottage features a chamfered beam.
