Description

Glyn Farmhouse is an early 17th-century farmhouse, altered in the early 19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble stone with a hipped thatched roof and brick stacks. The house is arranged in an L-shape, with a through-passage extending to the rear of a stack. The east front, which is two-storey and features three windows, is a 19th-century remodelling. The central doorway has six panels, while French windows are on the right and a 12-pane sash window is above a cellar window on the left. The first floor has nine-pane sash windows either side of a central six-pane fixed window. The south-facing left return has a two-storey gabled stone porch with a round-arched opening and a two-light chamfered mullioned window above. To the right of the porch is a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement and a single casement. An inserted garage door is situated to the left of the porch, marking the former service end of the house. A single casement window and an eyebrow dormer with a two-light casement are located on the first floor to the right of the porch; a 20th-century gabled dormer is situated to the left. The rear of the house has various casement windows.

Inside, the porch contains a restored six-panelled folding door. A timber-framed partition is visible to the left side of the through-passage. The main heated room has a blocked open fireplace, and the interior features very deeply chamfered beams, one six-panelled wainscot door, and a 19th-century staircase with stick balusters. The garage, part of the former service wing, has an open fireplace with a chamfered lintel on stone jambs and a winding staircase on the north side of the stack.
