Description

DONHEAD ST. MARY CHURCH HILL ST 92 SW (east side)

Detached house. Early C18, altered and extended late C18 and C19. Dressed limestone, tiled roof with coped verges and gable end brick stacks. L-plan. Two-storey, 3-window south front has half-glazed door in chamfered stone case to left with large French windows to right and C19 two-light casement to left, first floor has plat band and two 2-light and one single C19 casement, attic has two hipped dormers with 2-light casements. To left is C18 two-storey wing projecting to front with two 2-light casements to ground and first floors; C20 conservatory in place of C19 conservatory attached to gable end, first floor has 2-light casement and single recessed chamfered casement, blocked bull's-eye to attic. Right return of main range has 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements to ground and first floors, 2-light and single casement to attic. To rear is 2-storey range, possibly late C17, with sashes and late C19 two-storey canted bay. Interior currently being renovated and remodelled (November 1985), but retains C18 fielded panelling in room to right of entrance, C18 open well stairs with turned and square-section balusters, some mullioned windows retained on former external walls, between C18 and C19 ranges, some ex situ fireplaces brought in during current renovations (November 1985).
