Description

Tulip Tree is a farmhouse that has been converted into a detached house. It dates from the late 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 18th and late 19th centuries, as well as a rear wing added in the 1970s. The building is constructed of dressed limestone and features a thatched roof with rendered brick stacks that have moulded capping.

The two-storey structure has a three-window range from the 17th century, which includes a blocked central door. Flanking this are two-light mullioned casements and a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement on either side. The first floor has three-light mullioned casements on either side of a two-light casement. To the left is an 18th and 19th-century range that features a planked door with a flat wooden hood supported by brackets, along with four-pane sashes on either side and two large two-light casements on the first floor.

The right side of the building has a single recessed chamfered casement on the ground floor, a two-light casement on the first floor, and a two-light mullioned casement in the attic. The rear of the house has been restored to include a two-light mullioned casement on the ground floor and another on the first floor, along with an attic dormer featuring a two-light casement. There is also a lean-to extension and a 19th-century wing to the right with two-light casements and a thatched roof. Behind this is the 1970s wing, which is not of special interest. The left side of the building has four-pane sashes on both the ground and first floors. The interior has been largely remodelled in the 1970s but retains some 19th-century joinery.
