Description

Ford Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the 17th and early 18th centuries, with later 19th and 20th-century additions. The main body is constructed of coursed squared limestone, with a stone slate roof and a stone stack repaired in brick. It has a rectangular form with a single bay. A 19th- to 20th-century extension is present, featuring a later lean-to against the gable end. The two-storied main body has two windows, containing double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements. The lower left-hand windows have 20th-century mullions, while the original stone surround and stopped hood remain above. A central gabled, weather-boarded porch from the 20th century fronts the cottage; it contains a partly glazed 19th-century door within a segmental-headed surround. A three-light steel casement window and a plank door are found on the single-story extension to the left and right, respectively. The interior was not inspected.
