Description
Shepherd's Cottage is a detached cottage, likely built around 1867, roughly at the same time as The Gables. It is constructed of random limestone rubble with dressed quoins and features a concrete tile roof and stone stacks. The cottage has a rectangular plan and stands at one and a half storeys.
The central projecting porch, also one and a half storeys high, contains a 19th-century plank door set within a segmental-pointed surround, positioned to the left of centre. Above, there is a single trefoil-headed light on the first floor. The forward-facing gable features a four-light stone-mullioned window to the left, while a two-light stone-mullioned casement is located to the right of the projecting porch, with a half dormer above it, also lit by a similar light. All casements have leaded panes. The gable ends have slightly stepped coping with roll saddles and gable end stacks. The exterior retains its original picturesque and unusual composition. The interior has not been inspected.
