Description

Brookford Cottage is a detached cottage with a history spanning the 17th and 19th centuries. The original core of the cottage dates back to the 17th century and is constructed from large, regularly squared and dressed limestone blocks. A later extension was added in the 19th century, built with coursed limestone rubble and brick, and has a stone slate roof and brick stacks. The cottage's original design comprised a single unit, to which the 19th-century extension was added on the left side. It is one-and-a-half storeys high.

On the garden front, there is a two-light stone mullioned casement window with a hood moulding on the right side. A 20th-century flush panel door is set within a gabled, part-glazed porch. Further two-light stone mullioned casements are located in the right gable end, and another is on the roadside front. A 20th-century half dormer window is also visible on the roadside front. The 19th-century extension has a half dormer window lit by a 20th-century top-opening casement and a similar window on the ground floor. Gable end stacks are present. The interior of the cottage was not inspected.
