Description

The Gabled Cottage is a detached cottage dating back to the 17th century, with alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with dressed quoins, and has stone slate and concrete tile roofing, with stone and artificial stone stacks. The cottage has a rectangular main body alongside a single-bay 19th-century extension to its right gable. A 20th-century part-glazed porch at the front of the 19th-century extension is not considered to be of special interest. The cottage has one-and-a-half storeys.

The garden front features twin Cotswold gables on the main body. A 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned window illuminates the right-hand gable. A 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement is on the ground floor, with a stone slate lean-to roof, and clamp buttresses with offsets on either side of the window. A 20th-century 2-light casement is in the left-hand gable. A 20th-century plank door is positioned below a 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned window to the left. The 19th-century extension to the right includes a 20th-century half dormer with 2-light casements, and a single light to the left of the porch. A 3-light stone-mullioned casement is located in the rear wall. Gable end stacks are present on the main body. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.
