Description

22 Bedwin Street is a late 18th-century building that has been refaced and is believed to have originated as an earlier timber-framed structure. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed of red brick. The facade features a moulded cornice supported by paired brackets and has a steeply pitched gable end roof covered with old tiles. The front is symmetrical with three windows; the upper floor windows are blind, while the ground floor has taller windows. All windows are recessed sashes with intact glazing bars and flat rubbed brick arches. The central entrance door consists of six fielded panels and is topped by a semi-circular fanlight with wreathed radial glazing. The doorcase is reeded, with roundel corner blocks and fan ornament in the spandrels, and is also topped with a moulded cornice. At the rear, there is a timber-framed wing that dates back to the 16th or 17th century. The buildings numbered 20 to 24 form a group with this property.
