Description
Southfields is a late 18th-century building located on Greywell Street. It features a nearly symmetrical front with two storeys and three windows. The roof is hipped and covered with red tiles, and it has an eaves gutter that is supported by coupled carved brackets above a fillet with moulded lower bands. The walls are made of red brick in Flemish bond, with rubbed flat arches and stone cills, as well as a plinth. The windows are Victorian sashes set in reveals. The doorcase includes an open pediment with a dentil cornice, a broken entablature, and curved brackets above plain pilasters. The arched opening has plain reveals and a radiating fanlight, leading to a six-panelled door that is accessed via four stone steps with moulded edges. There is a single-storeyed small wing set back at the south end, which is of similar form. To the north of the main building, there are old outbuildings that have been altered.
