Description

The Royal George Public House, which includes part of the former No 19, is a building that dates back to the 15th century, with 18th-century refacing and heightening at the front. It is located on the north side of Bedwin Street and is a two-storey structure with a pebbledash exterior. The building features a steeply pitched gable end roof covered in old tiles, which is higher over the remaining part of the former No 19. The eaves project outwards, and the first floor has four casement windows with cambered heads, consisting of three three-light windows and one two-light window. The ground floor has undergone alterations, with reset windows and doors. There are four low sash windows with five panes by three panes, and one window with six panes by four panes on the right side, which is part of the former No 19. To the left, there is a door with an architrave surround, featuring a plain ledged door with a flat hood. At the rear, timber framing with curved bracing is visible. The interior boasts a notable 15th-century roof with a kingpost, centered collar, and windbraces. The Royal George Public House and Nos 23 to 49 (odd) form a group.
