Description
33 Bedwin Street is a mid-18th century building that stands on an older house. It has two storeys and an attic, with a brick raised plinth, a brick string course at the first floor level, and a moulded brick eaves cornice. The roof is covered with old tiles. The front features two hipped dormer windows with 19th-century two-light casements, and there are five windows on the first floor. On the ground floor, there is a passage entrance to the left, along with one window, a central door, and two additional windows. All the windows on both floors have flush frames, rubbed arches, stone keystones, and no glazing bars. The central door consists of six fielded panels and is framed by an architrave surround, with panelled pilasters that have fluted and beaded brackets, a small moulded and denticulated broken cornice, and an open pediment. The back elevation features two tile-hung gables, with the left gable having one attic window and three first-floor windows, while the right gable has two windows. The interior was altered in the 19th century. The Royal George Public House and Nos 23 to 45 (odd) form a group with this building.
