Description

26 Endless Street, which includes the former Nos 28 and 30, is an early 19th-century building that was originally three separate houses. The main part of the structure is to the right and features two storeys of painted brick, with a moulded wood cornice and a brick parapet topped with coping. To the right of the front, there is a two-storey canted brick bay that has a cornice and a rounded parapet, with sash windows on the front and narrow sidelights. On the first floor, there are two windows to the left, while the ground floor has one window to the left that was formerly arched. All windows are recessed sashes with renewed glazing bars.

The central entrance door consists of six fielded panels and is topped by a rectangular fanlight with marginal glazing, framed by an architrave surround with roundel cornice blocks. The flat moulded porch features a panelled soffit supported by pairs of cast iron columns made up of four quarter columns grouped together. To the left of this front, there is a projecting two-storey painted brick section that was formerly separate house No 28, which has a moulded cornice that extends up to the pediment of the gable end facing the street. This section has a slate roof and two windows on both floors, with the right ground floor window being a modern facsimile that replaced the former house door.

Adjoining the front to the north is the remaining half of a former symmetrical pair of early 19th-century houses (No 30), which has been virtually rebuilt with an extra storey. This part is three storeys tall, made of painted brick, and features a cornice and parapet, with two windows on each floor. The ground floor of this section formerly had two doors.

Nos 16 to 26 (even) form a group.
