Description

Northey's Farm is a farmhouse dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of rubblestone, featuring both squared and random stonework, and has a hipped roof made of stone slate. The building is designed in an L-plan and has two storeys with three windows on the front elevation. The central door is set within a chamfered case, and on either side are 4-light ovolo mullioned windows that include a king mullion and drip mould. The first floor has a combination of 3-light, 2-light, and 3-light ovolo mullioned windows. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top of the building.

The left side of the farmhouse features 3-light ovolo mullioned windows with drip moulds at ground level, while the right side has a central door with a chamfered door case and one 3-light ovolo mullioned window on either side. Above these are three 2-light windows. The rear of the building includes a 20th-century kitchen extension. There are relieving arches over the ground floor window to the right of the front and on the right return.

Inside, there is a timber lintel over a large fireplace in the room to the left of the entrance. The house has two phases: a late 17th-century section made of rubblestone that survives on the right side of the front, which also features windows with relieving arches, and an early 18th-century wing added to the left that creates a symmetrical front and includes the hipped roof and eaves cornice from this later phase.
