BURTON-CUM-WALDEN BACK NOOK SE 0086-0186 (east side) West Burton 13/13 Ryder's Farmhouse - II

Farmhouse. Late C17 - early C18. Rubble, stone slate roof. Hearth-passage plan, 2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows, with central 2-storey outshut containing the staircase. Quoins. Ground floor, from left: double- chamfered 4-light mullion window; 3-light flat-faced mullion window; part- glazed door below deep lintel; C20 three-light casement window. First floor, from left: 9-pane unequally-hung sash window in flush ashlar surround; C20 casement window in surround of 2-light double-chamfered mullion window; side-sliding sash window in flush ashlar surround. Shaped kneeler and ashlar coping to left. Stacks at ends and to left of hearth- passage. Rear: outshut: on each floor a 2-light double-chamfered mullion window; also a round-arched landing window in flush ashlar surround. To right (rear of house): 16-pane sash window in C18 architrave with plain lintel. Interior: in room to left of hearth-passage, C18 ashlar fireplace with corbelled sides supporting mantelshelf, stop-chamfered beams. Stone open well staircase.
