14/154 Two Hampton monuments in church- yard about 15m south of south porch of St Mary

GV II

Two chest tombs, C18, ashlar. From west: a) William Hampton memorial, mid C18, with 2 shield plaques each side, cherub heads below, fluted piers, moulded base and cornice with ridged capstone. Cartouche at west end, skull, bones and hour-glass to east. b) Hampton memorial, late C18, with large oval plaque, cherub heads in spandrels, floral drop each side and fluted baluster angles. Moulded base and cornice, broken forward over plaque, North side inscription to Jane Hampton.
