Description

The Biggs Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard at the south-west angle of the Church of St Mary, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features two shield plaques on each side, framed by attached columns, with cherub heads positioned below the shields. The monument has a moulded base and a cornice that is broken forward over the columns. The west end is adorned with a carved cherub head, while the east end displays skull bones and an hour-glass, both ends framed by columns. The tomb bears inscriptions dedicated to William and Ann Biggs.
