Ford And Unidentified Monuments In Churchyard About 13 Metres North North West Of North West Angle Of Church Of St Mary

Two chest tombs from the early to mid 18th century are located in the churchyard about 13 meters north-north-west of the north-west angle of the Church of St Mary. The tombs are made of ashlar stone. The first tomb is an unidentified memorial featuring two raised octagonal plaques on each side, a fielded panelled center, and angle piers with rosettes at the center. It has a moulded base and cornice, with a pulvinated frieze that is broken forward over the piers. The second tomb is the Ford memorial, which has two shield plaques on each side framed by attached columns. It also features similar end plaques framed by columns and cherub heads positioned below the shields. This tomb has a moulded base and cornice with a pulvinated frieze, which is broken forward over the columns. The east end plaque is dedicated to Mary Ford, who died in 1734, while the south side plaque commemorates Joseph Glass, who died in 1821.
