Description

Angel Cottage is a pair of 18th-century cottages situated on the east side of Burbage High Street. They are constructed of diaper brick and have a thatched roof. The cottages are single-storey with an attic, and approximately symmetrical, each originally one bay wide. A central stack serves as a party wall between them. Each cottage has been extended by a narrow lean-to bay at one end. Number 57 features a boarded door with a glazed panel. A plat band runs along the front. The cottages have 19th-century casement windows, and one flush dormer each. The lean-to on Number 57 is colourwashed, while the lean-to on Number 59 is timber-framed and colourwashed and contains a door and gable stack. Scratch dates on the brickwork indicate the years 1777 and 1781.
