Description
Longmeadow is a 17th-century house located on the east side of High Street in Burbage. It features a timber frame that has been colourwashed and is topped with a thatched roof. The house is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with a small rear wing on the left. The entrance is located laterally to the central hall bay, leading to a through passage that provides access to the stair at the rear of the left bay. There is an inner room at the back of the main double stack, and the stair is positioned beside the stack. The entrance has a 20th-century boarded door with a glazed panel, sheltered by a propped thatched canopy. The windows are made of stained timber with a diamond pattern leaded design. There is a brick stack with a window for the stair on the side, and a second stack at the rear of the left parlour. The roof is hipped. Inside, there are remains of the original framing, including ogee corner braces and timber-framed partitions. Some 17th-century panelling can be found in the central room, and there is a duck's nest iron fireplace in the left bay.
