Description
Yew Tree Cottage is a house that dates back to the 16th century and was extended in the early 18th century. It features a timber frame with colourwashed brick noggings and a thatched roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a rear block consisting of three bays. The right bay has a wing extending to the front, made of patterned diaper brick, which includes a datestone from 1712 in the gable. The framing consists of three panels high to the bressumer, with one panel above and curved corner braces. There are blocked original three-light windows on the gable end. The entrance is located in the centre bay, with a secondary entrance offset at the rear of the wing. The cottage has various paned windows, and the wing features a plat band and a gable stack. Inside, the main 16th-century block has three collar trusses, which were formerly equipped with windbraces, and shows smoke blackening on the rafters and thatch. The living room includes a moulded spine beam.
