Description

IDMISTON HIGH STREET, Porton SU 13 NE (north west side) 3/80 Lane End Cottage II

Cottage, C17 and later. Timber framed and colourwashed cob, thatched roof. Single storey and attic, 2 bays, extended beyond gable stack by third bay, probably enclosing original entrance at side of stack. Framing to rear wall only, 2 panels high with straight corner braces. Boarded door with glazed panel to extension. C20 timber windows with black painted surrounds. Glazed outbuilding attached to right end. Interior: Stair in shorter inner bay. Chamfered spine beam with ogee stops to main living room. Floors pegged into original structure. Clasped purlin roof, with windbraces to south bay only. (RCHM Survey)
