Description
Birdlyme Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1790. It features painted flint and brick construction, rendered at the front, with a tiled roof behind a parapet at the front. The building has two storeys and a facade with five window bays. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door and fanlight, which is enclosed within an open porch. The ground floor windows are twelve-paned sashes with round fanlights above, while the upper floor windows have segmental heads. The eaves are dentilled, and there are two dormers on the front and two with hipped roofs at the rear. An extension was added to the right around 1860, and a 20th-century porch on the left connects to a garage. Inside, the dining room on the front left has a wood fireplace surround with festoon panels and an anthemion frieze with marble slips, along with shutters on the window reveals. The central hall features a staircase with a mahogany handrail that has a scrolled end.
