Description

Rosemoor is a house dating from the 18th century, with alterations in the mid- and late 19th century. It is built with lined stucco over squared flint foundations, with side-hung slate roofs. The main front block is symmetrical, comprising three bays across the front and one bay depth, arranged around a central stair hall. This block is linked to an earlier, parallel block with two bays at the rear, and a late 19th-century wing to the right rear. The main entrance features a six-panelled door within a shaped metal canopy supported by ornate cast iron. The front has six-light sash windows. The roof is hipped and includes pebbledashed stacks on the rear wall. A single 18th-century three-light leaded window remains in the rear block. Inside, the early 19th-century staircase has a hardwood handrail. Window reveals have panelled shutters. The rear block features a stack with an oven and an early 17th-century carved overmantel, apparently created in 1896 from elaborate panelling and set within an early 17th-century oak cornice.
