Description
Cherry Orchard Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located in Burbage. It features a timber frame set on brick and flint sills, although much of this has been replaced with colourwashed brick. The cottage has a thatched roof and is single storey with an attic, consisting of a hall and an inner room. In the 19th century, a third bay was added beyond the original gable stack. The entrance is on the north side of the central bay, leading to a canted glazed porch that is sheltered by an extension of the roof. The cottage has two and three-light casement windows and one flush dormer. The outbuilding on the left gable shows visible framing, with three panels high and straight corner braces. There is a two-storey rear extension added in 1987. Inside, the living room features a spine beam with ogee chamfered stops and an ovolo moulded fire beam, although the fireplace has been blocked.
