Description
Thatch End is a cottage dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of cob and brick, with colourwashed infilling to the remaining timber frame, and features a thatched roof. The building has two storeys and consists of two bays in the central section framed from the 17th century, which has been extended at both ends with single-storey additions. The left extension is now a living room and turns the corner into Porton Road. The framed section has a single storey at the attic level, with a gable facing the street, featuring two panels high with corner braces. This section is now part of the second bay to the left, which contains the entrance within a thatched open porch. There is a gable stack present. The right extension, added in the late 18th century, is made of cob and has a single door. A hipped dormer is located at the rear of the left extension. Inside, there is a fire lintel inscribed with "TM 176- MS." The cottage is listed primarily for its group value.
